“[Enlace’s] work to empower victims and enlist them in the struggle to end domestic violence should serve as a model for others seeking to turn victims into survivors.” — Marcia Roth, Executive Director of the Mary Byron Project based in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mary Byron Project selected Enlace Comunitario’s Promotora Leadership Development Program as a model for the nation with the prestigious 2011 Celebrating Solutions Award. A panel comprised of national domestic violence experts select programs that demonstrate innovative and promising solutions to break the cycle of domestic violence.
The Mary Byron Project – Fostering Innovations and Strategies to End Domestic Violence – was established in memory of the young woman whose murder led to the creation of VINE, an automated crime victim notification technology. As a nationally recognized thought leader on domestic violence, the Mary Byron Project cultivates and supports efforts that extend beyond crisis management to attack the root causes of this epidemic and help build safer, healthier communities.
